Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the skin to stimulate the body's own healing abilities. There are over 500 acupuncture points on the body including on the ear, scalp, face, fingers, toes, abdomen and back.

Gua sha is the use of a tool to elicit transitory therapeutic petechiae - which looks like tiny red or purple spots on the skin that remain for a day or two. Research has shown this to have an anti-inflammatory and immune boosting effect for several days following the treatment. Can be used for pain, asthma or breathing problems, low immune function, a variety of skin issues. Please choose "Gua sha" in the online scheduler if you'd like to come in for this treatment or add it to your acupuncture treatment.

Moxibustion is mugwort, an herb which comes in a cigar shaped tightly packed stick that is either lit and hovered over an acupuncture point, or comes in fluff that is rolled into rice grain sized pellets and applied directly to the skin. It is used to warm and penetrate the channels when there is pain, blockage, or cold.

Cupping uses heat to suction glass bulbs to the surface of the skin to remove toxins, move blood to relieve pain, and feels like a deep massage. It is not unlikely that you will leave a cupping session with large circular red or purple marks on your skin where the cups were applied so be mindful of that when planning. Please choose "cupping" in the online scheduler if you'd like to come in for cupping or add it to your acupuncture treatment.

Massage: Tui Na is a Chinese form of massage which is very moving and vigorous, Shiatsu is a slower more relaxing Japanese acupressure. Both types of massage are done with clothes on, without oil.

Herbal medicine works alone or in conjunction with acupuncture to bring the body into balance. We use only GMP certified, third party laboratory tested herbs which meet rigorous purity and safety standards.
